St.Lucie 10 - Charlotte 5

Amed Rosario went 3 for 5 and drove in four runs as the St. Lucie Mets thumped the Charlotte Stone Crabs 10-5 on Tuesday at Charlotte Sports Park.

With the Mets trailing by a run in the seventh, Rosario smashed a two-run home run to put the Mets up 5-4. They would lead the rest of the way. It was Rosario’s third home run of the year and second in three games.

Rosario laced a two-run triple to right-center field in the eighth to put the Mets ahead 9-4. He finished with four RBI. It was his second four RBI game in the last three. Rosario was seeking a double for the cycle but was stranded on deck in the ninth.

Starter Josh Prevost got the win. He allowed four runs in the fourth inning but nothing before or after. He tossed sixed innings and scattered eight hits.

The Mets ended up with six extra base hits. Tomas Nido cranked two doubles. Wuilmer Becerra added a RBI double in the ninth to give the Mets 10 runs for the first time this year. John Mora ripped a RBI triple in the second inning.

Champ Stuart went 2 for 5 and delivered a two-out, two-run single in the eighth when the Mets were only up one run.

Notes: The Mets improved to 5-0 on the road…Stone Crabs starter Greg Harris had only allowed one run in 20 career innings vs. the Mets. On Tuesday the Mets tagged him for four runs…Alberto Baldonado was the beneficiary of two inning-ending double plays. He got his fourth hold…Champ Stuart stole his eighth base, good enough for second in the FSL…Michael Katz walked three times.
