Luke Holman

RHP    6-4   180   Wilson HS

Luke Holman (2021 Sinking Spring, PA) showed plenty of swing and miss late in the fall with eight strikeouts in four innings at the World Championships. The heater sat in the 90-93 mph range with plenty of plane. He threw a big breaking curveball and a late breaking slider as his secondary offerings. The body and delivery also give plenty to be excited about.

Luke Holman is a 2021 RHP/3B with a 6-4 190 lb. frame from Sinking Spring, PA who attends Wilson. Athletic and projectable build with long arms and legs. Pitches with a high front side leading to a high 3/4's arm slot, repeats his mechanics and release point well, especially on his fastball. Worked up to 93 mph, gets good life on his fastball, works it to spots especially arm side, can elevate his fastball effectively as well, lots of swing and miss on the fastball. Curveball had good spin and depth, best at lower velocities with deeper downer shape. Still developing feel for his change up but not hesitant to work with it. Very effective outing

Buzz: Watch Luke Holman pitch out on the mound or throw a bullpen and you will see an effortless delivery. The 6-foot-4 right-hander is smooth in his motions, which is a great sign early for helping him maintain control of his pitches long term. The Bulldogs’ right-hander has already started to hit the low-90s with his fastball as a sophomore, and that figures to only improve as he heads into his senior campaign and builds up strength. His curveball and changeup give him a well-rounded repertoire that should give MLB teams plenty of incentive to scout him before he heads off to Alabama.

2/23/20 - Alabama commit. 6-foot-4, 185-pound right-hander has an athletic, well proportioned frame with room to continue adding strength. Fastball sat 87-89 from a high 3/4 arm slot with a fluid, loose arm action. Fastball has current late riding life and should continue to develop with additional physical maturity. Curveball is a plus pitch with 12/6 rotation and an extremely high spin rate thrown at fastball arm speed sitting 71-73. Showed feel for his changeup at 72-74 with some sinking action and a splitter with tumbling action at 71-75.
