1. Spent Sunday morning on the practice field with the Gnats. Had a short, but nice conversation with SP Robert Carson. The last thing you think of when you stand next to this guy is the fact that he is only 20-years old. He comes up much more mature and experienced. Boy, I wish they’d let him move on so we could get a peek at how he handles himself at A+.
2. Going into Sunday’s game, the relief crew of the Gnats (Church, Cruz, Goldberg, Oliveros, Orta, and Smith) hadn’t given up a run in the past seven games (18.0-IP).
3. Sand Gnats Eric Beaulac is now ranked 6th in the league in strikeouts (97), and 5th in ERA (2.44).
4. Excellent day for the Sand Gnats Wilmer Flores… 4-4, 1-2B, 2-RBI, BA up to .287… Flores hitting mostly singles at the A level, but that’s fine… the power will come… and, he has only struck out 41 times in 317 at bats… just turned 18… he’s the real deal.
5. GCL Mets wise, 2009 draft pick ZeErika Hall is starting to hit… BA up to .326 in 43 at bats… also, 3B Charlie Hinojosa went 2-4 and is now hitting .413.
6. K-Port was on fire again today… draft pick CF Darrell Ceciliani is warming up: 3-5, 1-R, 1-2B, .254… 2B prospect Alonzo Harris now at .295, plus hit his 7th homer… recently promoted OF Kurt Steinhauer DH’d and went 3-4, BA to .500…
