The Future of Mets’ Third Basemen:

Half Full:

Shawn Bowmana baseball team drafts or signed the best player available at the time, regardless of position (no, Coop, there is no word “irregardless..). That’s what the Mets did when they drafted Bowman. And that’s also what they did when he broke his back and they drafted David Wright. Or did the Wright draft come before the first Bowman back break? Who cares. The important thing is, if David goes down for any reason, Shawn will show the fans that the Mets own two all-star third basemen.

Zach Lutznothing wrong here, either… Lutz is showing the minor league brass that they just might have three major league third basemen in their organization… hit .284/.381/.441/822 for Lucy this year and will join most of his 2009 teammates with the B-Mets this season. Remember this name.

Aderlin Rodriguezthe Mets latest 16-year old (hope he wasn’t in the same sixth grade class as Marcos Tabata…) phenom (when was the last one the Mets signed that actually made the majors?), A-Rod hit .290/.389/.387/.776 for the GCL Mets in only 62 at bats. However, it should at least earn him a promotion in 2010 to K-Port.

Charlie HinojosaI love baseball cube’s rating on this kid… batting: 95… speed: 6. Even Rube Walker, the slowest player ever in baseball, had a higher rating than 6! That being said, the dude can hit (.323/.387/.441/.828 for the 2009 GCL Mets). Look for him to play, at least, Brooklyn in 2010, and bite up Marte’s arse at Savannah.

Half Empty:

Jenry MarteMarte rode the prospect train of Wilmer Flores last year and proved he has a long way to go before he will be ranked again in the top 10 list. Marte makes fielding a ground ball into a contact sport. Watch for him to remain in Savannah until he gets his defense down, or until the Mets wash their hands of him.

Matt Bouchardthis is another of those sad stories about a great kid who bleeds Mets orange both on and off the field. The problem is God didn’t give him enough talent to rise above a utility player. I hope the Mets keep him around this year. No one wants to win more than Matt.
