TODAY’S GAME: Tonight, the Bisons take on the Louisville Bats in the first game of a four-game series from Louisville Slugger Field (7:05 p.m.). The Herd is looking to rebound from a 3-1 series defeat to Indianapolis to begin this eight-game roadtrip. After this four-game set, the Bisons will return to Buffalo for an eight-game homestand. The Herd is 7-9 on the road this season.
vs. THE BATS: The Bisons took three of four-games from the Bats at Coca-Cola Field, May 1-4. Buffalo won an extra-inning contest on May 2 (6-4, 10 innings) and picked up two one-run victories, as well. Last season, the Herd scored just six runs in four games at Louisville Slugger Field as the Bats were victorious in three of the four contests.
C.C. STREAKIN: OF CHRIS CARTER is the third Bisons’ hitter to reach 10 games with a hit streak this season. Carter singled and homered in yesterday’s loss. Since April 28, the outfielder has averaged .425 (17-40) with four homers, 10RBI and seven runs scored. The stretch is the second longest active streak in the International League (ROC’s DANNY VALENCIA, 14G) and one short of INF MIKE CERVENAK’S team-high 11-game stretch earlier this season.
A LITTLE MORE C.C.: OF CHRIS CARTER has reached base safely in 17 consecutive games. It’s the second longest active streak in the IL, one game behind Pawtucket’s OF DANIEL NAVA. Carter has a .473 on-base percentage since the stretch began on April 21.
CHART TOPPERS: INF MIKE HESSMAN and OF CHRIS CARTER are all over the IL hitting charts. Hessman and Carter are one-two in the league in total bases (69 and 67) and slugging percentage (.633, .615). Hessman is tops in the IL with 33RBI and tied for the top spot with nine home runs. Carter is tied for fifth in the IL with six homers and sixth in the league with a .339 average.
ROSTER MOVE: C JOSH THOLE has been recalled to the Mets today as C HENRY BLANCO was placed on the Bereavement List. Thole had three hits and three RBI yesterday. He’s hitting .203 (16-79) with 10RBI in 21 games for the Herd. C TONY MACCANI has joined the Bisons from St. Lucie (A). Maccani was hitting .233 (7-30) with one homer and three RBI with St. Lucie.
METS UPDATE: The Mets (17-14) saw their nine-game home winning streak come to an end yesterday as they lost 6-5 to the Giants. Still, New York took two of three from San Francisco. OF JASON BAY had two hits and two RBI for the Mets, while former Bisons’ INF IKE DAVIS collected two more hits to raise his average to .316. New York hosts Washington tonight at 7:10 p.m.
