Chris Duffy:
5-25 from: - http://web.goldenspikesaward.com/index.html?page=news_archive&article_id=73 - Chris Duffy was a solid player over the first three years of his Central Florida career. An unsigned ninth-round pick out of high school in 2006, he hit in the .280s and had 30-something RBIs each season. He hit eight home runs as a freshman and sophomore, then six as a junior. That gave him 22 career long balls in 505 at-bats heading into this season. The 6-foot-2, 240-pound outfielder capped off an incredible season with one last monstrous weekend in UCF's series win at Tulane, going 7-for-14 with three home runs, two doubles and 10 RBIs. His two-homer game Saturday gave him a school-record 21 long balls on the season and moved him into a tie atop the school's all-time homer list with 43. He finished with an eye-popping line of .447/.539/.850 with 81 RBIs and 18 doubles to go along with all the home runs.

Senior Surprises - Chris Duffy, Central Florida, OF - Duffy struggled as a junior - just .285 with six home runs and a 14-43 BB/K ratio - but is excelling in his senior season. This spring, Duffy is hitting .436/.525/.805 with 18 home runs and has already drawn twice as many walks this year as last year. The knock against Duffy is that he lacks the defense to play the outfield and will need to sustain his hitting to profile at first base.
Aaron Shipman:
5-25 from: - link - Aaron Shipman has some serious tools. He has commited to Mercer. He is far from unknown, we have him ranked 114 in the nation and should have him higher than that. We've seen him a lot since 2007. He was yet another prospect who attended the PG National Showcase last June at the Metrodome. Here is our report from the PG National... Aaron Shipman is a 2010 OF/P/1B with a 6'1'', 180 lb. frame from Quitman, GA who attends Brooks County HS. Lean and slender athletic build, loose actions. Two way prospect. Excellent runner, 6.34 60, gliding runninig style. Quick hands hitting, very short to ball, has hitting tools/actions, speed will help package, potential base stealer. Good arm strength in OF, routes/jumps still need some developing, CF tools. Mid 80's FB on mound but very loose arm, effortless delivery, extened 3/4's release, shows athleticism on mound, big upside, can see 90+ FB in future from left side, good feel for change up, CB still developing. Patience needed but very high ceiling athlete. Very good student. He ran a 6.34 laser time and threw 90 from the outfield with excellent carry.
Jarred Hippen:
5-24 from: - http://www.bigten.org/sports/m-basebl/spec-rel/052410aaa.html - CO-PITCHERS OF THE WEEK - Jarred Hippen, Iowa - So., RHP, Rock Falls, Ill./Rock Falls - Hippen becomes the first Hawkeye in over two years to earn Pitcher of the Week honors, leading Iowa to a 7-2 win over Purdue in the teams’ series opener on Saturday. The sophomore allowed just two runs on five hits and a walk in a complete-game win, tying his career best with nine strikeouts. The win marked Hippen’s fifth overall this season, and the effort was his fourth complete game of the conference slate.
Kellin Deglan:
5-25 from: - http://www.mlbbonusbaby.com/2010/5/25/1486642/top-5-by-position-catchers#storyjump - Kellin Deglan isn’t new to scouts, but he’s new to the top level of draft prospecting. A solid top ten round backstop entering the spring, he exploded with excellent performances while traveling with a team to Arizona this spring to play against pro players in extended spring training. A natural defender, his weakest areas are really with the bat, where he’s fairly new to being considered a top-level hitter. In a way, he’s most like traditional high school catcher picks, in that his defense and pop times are much more impressive than his bat, though his bat is quite good on its own. As a left-handed hitting catcher with a sweet gap-to-gap swing, he gets plenty of comparisons to Joe Mauer, though he doesn’t have the natural strength or size that Mauer had. However, he’s more advanced defensively than anyone in the prep catching class this spring, showing plus defensive tools with an above-average arm, plus footwork, and a nice and easy approach to handling pitchers and receiving. He’ll have plenty to work on when he reaches the pro level, but if his tear against pro pitchers in April shows anything, it’s that he’s ready to take on competition older than his age. He should go in the top fifty picks, but it’s all a matter of which team is willing to spend the highest pick possible for a signable catcher.
Matt Suschak:
5-25 from: - http://www.sportingnews.com/blog/MLB_Draft - Right-hander Matt Suschak has been drawing scouts because of his "plus" arm strength. Last Thursday, he dueled Ball State fireballer Perci Garner (more on him this week). And while Suschak got the win, both pitchers were touched up. Suschak gave up six earned runs on eight hits and a walk in seven innings, striking out four. Garner gave up four runs on nine hits and two walks. For the season, Suschak is 4-1 with a 4.12 ERA in 54 innings. He's averaging about a strikeout per inning and limiting opposing batters to a .205 average.
