Look, it’s pretty easy right now to slam this guy, but let’s say this without emotion. He can’t start and he has now proven he can’t relieve. He cannot be part of this team anymore. What exactly are the options here? Can you just pay him but make him stay home? Do you have to DFA him before you can get him off the 25-man? Look, I know the answers to these questions, but I got to tell you, you just can’t keep putting this guy in games when you have a team that is limited in talent. I’ve met the man and he’s a very nice person. And, no one wanted to succeed more than him this spring. But, he’s failed. Again. He just has to go.


Jonathan Niese is pitching a rehab game Monday in Buffalo, so, with a little luck, he’ll be back by the end of the week and Fernando Nieve can go back to long man. But, this still leaves a critical bullpen slot being filled with someone who is costing the Mets baseball games. There would be no hesitation if this was a rookie with options or a vet with a one year contract. It’s all about the money.


Fine. Give him the money. Go to the back and put it all in a brown paper bag and hand it to him. That being said, make it a very big brown paper bag. Mets fans will be over this is two weeks if you get this done, especially if you replace him with somebody that can help this team win an away game.


Signing Oliver Perez was a mistake, but it doesn’t have go on every day like the oil spill in the gulf.

     The Tigers will designate Dontrelle Willis for assignment tomorrow, according to the team's official Twitter feed. The move will free up a roster spot for Max Scherzer, who is being called up to start tomorrow's game. Willis, still just 28, has been a disappointment since coming over from the Marlins prior to the 2008 season. Overall he posted a 6.86 ERA in 101 innings with the team, including a 4.98 ERA in 43.1 innings this year. He won just two gamess in a Tigers' uniform, missing time with everything from knee hyper-extension to forearm tightness to anxiety disorder. The Tigers have ten days to trade, release, or waive the former Rookie of the Year, but are still on the hook for his $12MM salary this season.

See, the Mets aren't the only team with a failed project. but they are the only team that won't do anything about it.

Come on guys... just get it done.
