TODAY’S GAME: This afternoon, the Bisons face the Toledo Mud Hens in final game of a four-game series from Coca-Cola Field (1:05 p.m.). Ahead 2-1 in the set, the Herd is looking for the series win today. Tomorrow, the Bisons welcome the Syracuse Chiefs to town for the start of another four-game series. vs. MUD HENS: The Bisons are 2-1 against the Mud Hens this season, thanks to their victories on Thursday and Friday. The club is assured of at least a split of the home portion of their season series. Buffalo has lost just one series at home to Toledo (2003, 1-3) since returning to the IL.
HOME SWEET HOME: At 18-7, the Bisons have the best home record in the International League. The Herd has five series wins already at home and only one split, April 17-20 vs. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (2-2). With 18 home wins, the Bisons are just 11 victories shy of their total for all of 2009 (29-43).
HIT MACHINE: OF JESUS FELICIANO collected his third consecutive multi-hit game of the season yesterday. He now has 11 multi-hit efforts in his last 19 games and a team-high 18 for the season. Feliciano’s .383 average is now an astonishing 62 points higher than any other player in the International League.
HESS IS THE BEST: INF MIKE HESSMAN slugged his third home run in three games against his former team and now has 17 on the season. Hessman hit 140 home runs in five seasons with Toledo, 2005-2009. Hessman remains one home run behind Double-A Jacksonville’s MIKE STANTON for the most homers in baseball.
METS UPDATE: The Mets (25-25) lost their second straight in Milwaukee last night, 8-6. Former Bisons INF IKE DAVIS hit his fifth home run of the season in the loss. The Mets announced that LHP JON NIESE will make a rehab start with the Bisons on Monday. Niese was placed on the DL on May 17 with a right hamstring strain. Niese threw 35 pitches in a bullpen session in Port St. Lucie yesterday.
