On May 29th of last year, right handed pitcher Dillon Gee went on the disabled list with a right shoulder strain. The injury cost Gee his entire first season at the Triple A level.
What a difference a year makes.
Almost one year to the date of him going on the DL, Gee took the mound for the Herd in a game against the Toledo Mud Hens at Coca-Cola field. What the Bisons got out of Gee was six solid innings as he picked up his sixth win of the season.
In his tenth start of the season, Gee went six innings and gave up six hits while allowing three earned runs. Two of those earned runs came in the sixth inning where Gee gave up two home runs, one to left fielder Ryan Strieby and one to center fielder Casper Wells.
Other than the sixth inning, Gee had the Mud Hens fooled all night. Gee had a season high for a Bisons pitcher when he struck out nine batters during his six inning performance.
Gee was provided with run support from his teammates early. In the third inning after center fielder Jesus Feliciano and first baseman Daniel Murphy reached base, designated hitter Mike Jacobs stepped to the plate. Jacobs wasted no time and took the first pitch he saw deep to center field for a three run home run, his fifth of the season.
Jacobs was not a one man show for the Herd however. Feliciano added to his league high batting average by going 4-5 with two RBI. Feliciano is now batting .380 on the season.
BISONS NOTES: The Bisons continue have their third game in a four game series with Toledo tomorrow. First pitch is slated for 1:05 p.m. The Bisons are expected to send Tobi Stoner to the mound (3-4 4.98 ERA) who will face off against Mud Hens right hander Enrique Gonzalez (3-4, 3.51 ERA)
