AA Affiliate of the Cleveland Indians

RHP Josh Stinson (2-1, 3.20) vs. LHP Eric Berger (1-3, 8.51)

Game #49• Sunday, May 30, 2010

NYSEG Stadium • Binghamton, NY • 6:35 p.m.

LAST GAME: In improbable fashion, the B-Mets blew a late, six

-run lead in the final two innings to cough up an 11-10 decision

in favor of Akron. Mike Antonini offered up 5.1 innings of

three-run work in his start and left with a chance to win. The

game began to unravel in the eighth inning when Edgar Ramirez

loaded the bases by permitting three straight singles to

load the bases. With two outs, Cord Phelps doubled to clear

the bases and bring the Aeros within three. Manuel Alvarez

faced more adversity in the ninth allowing two runs to score,

cutting the lead to one. Emary Frederick followed and got

within an out of nailing down the save when Carlos Rivero

blooped a two-run single into right that put Akron ahead for

good. Binghamton loaded the bases with two outs against

Bryce Stowell in the ninth, but Omir Santos grounded out to

short to end the game. Carlos Guzman led the way for the BMets

with a 4-5 showing at the plate with two RBI.

STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP: RHP Josh Stinson will take the

hill for the B-Mets tonight in his first start of the season. In the

bullpen, the Louisiana righty has been good to the tune of a 2-

1 record and a 3.20 ERA over 39.1 innings of work, including

four outings of four innings or more. Stinson last worked fulltime

as a starter in 2007 with Savannah (Low-A) when he

made 21 starts for the Sand Gnats. He went 2-11 with a 5.31

ERA over 21 starts (98.1 IP). In 2009, he split the season

between Savannah and St. Lucie (High-A) and went 5-3 with

eight saves and a 2.86 ERA in 78.2 innings combined. The

Mets took him in the 37th round of the June 2006 draft

LHP Eric Berger is slated to make his seventh start of the

season tonight against the B-Mets. He was roughed up for five

runs on nine hits over five innings in his last start, May 25

versus Altoona, a losing effort. Berger is 1-3 with an 8.51 ERA

over 24.1 innings. He has struggled with his command and

has issued 20 walks over 24.1 innings. The southpaw led the

Indians farm system with a combined 2.50 ERA in 27 starts

between Kinston (High-A) and Akron. He finished second

among Cleveland minor leaguers with 133 strikeouts over

144 innings. Cleveland took the lefty in the eighth round of

the June 2008 draft out of the University of Arizona
