Cole Leonida:
5-7 from: - http://baseballdraftreport.com/ - 2010 MLB Draft: Top 30 College Catching - 20. Georgia Tech JR C Cole Leonida - As one of the spring’s fastest rising prospects, Cole Leonida does a lot of little things very well. His defense around the plate is a strength, and his power potential is second only to Tyler Bullock’s here on the latter half of the top thirty. Leonida’s impressive throwing arm, while at least big league average in strength and above-average in accuracy, could really stand to benefit from some mechanical adjustments to help with his release point. With good coaching that big league average arm could easily become consistently above-average. As a hitter he’ll probably never hit at or near .300 professionally, but his raw power could translate into double digit homeruns if given enough playing time.
Pierre LePage:
5-8 from: - http://baseballbeginnings.com/2010/05/08/pierre-lepage-video - I’m willing to bet that one very unsung reason behind UConn’s great season and push towards the Regionals has to do with their trusty second baseman, Pierre LePage. Good teams frequently have that glue in the middle and atop the order, the guy who basically is a blue-collar guy for the benefit of the players around him. It really ought to be a scouting grade. How does the player make other players better around him? If you did that, you’d find LePage would have a high mark.
Ruddy Acosta:
5-9 from: - http://www.mlbbonusbaby.com/2010/5/9/1464253/more-seiler-ratings#storyjump - Ruddy Acosta, RHP, Mount Miguel HS (CA), 4C1: Initially one of the top pitchers in the entire class a couple years ago. Has gone through mechanical re-work, and while he has good upside and projectability, he's quite risky. No commitment and should be signable.
P.J. Jimenez:
5-10 from: - http://thecollegebaseballblog.com/2010/05/10/big-south-players-of-the-week-10 - Liberty senior second baseman P.J. Jimenez (Yucaipa, Calif.) has been named the Big South Conference’s Choice Hotels Player of the Week - Jimenez batted .611 (11-18) with nine runs scored, four doubles, four walks, two stolen bases and three runs driven in five wins last week. He had four multi-hit games, including three hits at George Mason as well as in the series finale at Charleston Southern. Jimenez scored four times against the Patriots, then went 2-2 with two RBI and two doubles against Maryland. In Liberty’s series sweep of Charleston Southern, Jimenez had two hits, two walks and two runs scored in Friday’s opener, added a hit and stolen base in the second game, and finished the weekend with two runs, a double and walk on Sunday. For the week, he posted an .833 slugging percentage and a .667 on-base percentage, and he handled 22 fielding chances without an error.
Brett Eibner:
5-10 from: - http://www.sportingnews.com/blog/MLB_Draft - DOWN: Brett Eibner, RHP/OF, Arkansas - All Brett Eibner did this weekend against Ole Miss was 5-for-11 with a homer, four runs scored and three RBIs. The Hogs swept Ole Miss and gave Ole Miss ace Drew Pomeranz his worst loss of the season. I say the worst loss because despite not having his best stuff, Pomeranz was fighting through, gutting it out. His command of his breaking pitches was down, with curves sailing high and outside. His front side was flying wide open, and yet he was finding ways to get guys out. He took a 3-2 lead into the seventh when Eibner, with two men on, launched a homer over the batter's eye in centerfield, silencing the crowd in Oxford, Miss.
