Binghamton 9, Springfield 3

PORT ST. LUCIE, FL – TheBinghamton Mets collected 15 hits, including two home runs, in a 9-3 win overthe Springfield Cardinals, the Double-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, todayat the New York Mets’ Spring Training facility. 


 Travis Ozga led thecharge on offense, finishing a triple shy of the cycle. Ozga, a 41st-roundpick by the Mets in 2009, teamed up with outfielder Cory Vaughn to produceback-to-back home runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning, giving theDouble-A Mets a 2-1 lead.


 Top Mets’ prospect Zack Wheeler made the start and allowed one unearned run in three innings of work.Wheeler was acquired by the Mets in a trade last July that sent Carlos Beltranto the San Francisco Giants. The right-hander gave up one hit, walked three, hita batter, and collected one strike out. 


 The B-Mets will travelto Jupiter, FL tomorrow to take on the Jacksonville Suns, the Double-Aaffiliate of the Miami Marlins. First pitch is set for 1 PM.
