The SAL finals get under way Monday. GO SAND GNATS!

Salt Lake Bees sting Las Vegas 4-3, eliminating the 51‘s.

Aaron Harang (L, 0-1) with a “quality start“: 6.0 IP, 3 R, 6 H, (HR) 2 BB, 6 K. Aaron is now free to replace Dice-K in the Mets rotation. You have to wonder if he can return to his 2011/2012 form, would Sandy consider bringing him back for depth next year.

Jeff Walters made his 1st appearance for Las Vegas, pitching the final 1.2 innings of the game: 0 R, H, 0 BB, 3 K.  After the year Walters has had at Binghamton (38 saves, 56 IP, 2.09 ERA, 1.11 Whip, 9.64 K/9, 2.57 BB/9) the 24 yr old righty deserves a call up. Despite the roster expansion on Sept. 1, the Mets still have a 7 man pen. They should bring up a few new relievers to relieve the old relievers.

Kirk Nieuwenhuis: 2-5, HR, RBI, R.

Ruben Tejada: 1-3, 2B, BB, R.

Mike Baxter: 2-3, 2B, BB, R.

With 3 of the 4 Mets farm teams that made their league’s playoffs now eliminated in the 1st round, it’s all up to Savannah.
