September 2nd - Braves 13, Mets 5
Labor Day in Atlanta the Braves jumped all over the travel weary Mets and starter Diasuke Matsuzake as they win by the score of 13-5. Matsuzaka got hammered again. He went 3 innings allowed 7 hits, all 6 runs were earned. He walked 2 and struck out 3. Matsuzaka made it a 2-1 game in the 2nd on an rbi single, but in the 3rd Dice K gave up 4 more runs including a 3 run homer to Freddie Freeman that made it 6-1. The Mets scored 2 runs in the 4th on a pinch hit rbi double by Zach Lutz (His first MLB rbi) and a sac-fly by Daniel Murphy to make it 6-3. The Braves scored 2 runs in the 5th and 6th and it was 10-3. The Met offense continued to churn however, in the 7th the Mets got an rbi single by Lucas Duda and an error by Andrelton Simmons on a Juan Legares grounder was credited as an rbi and it was 10-5. In the bottom of the 8th Josh Satin made a two run error with the bases loaded to cap the laugher. The Braves tallied 17 hits on the afternoon. Freeman led the way with a double, homer( #18) and 5 rbi. Simmons went 2 for 4 with 2 rbi, Jordan Schaefer had 4 hits and 3 stolen bases. Dice K gets the loss he’s now 0-3 with a 10.95 era. Bright spots for the Mets....Tim Brydak made his first appearance since surgery, New Met Vic Black made his debut as well. Paul Maholm notched his 10th win. The Mets fall to 62-74 on the year and 34-36 on the road. Tuesday night its game 2 of this 3 game set. Carlos Torres (3-2 2.77) coming off his best outing on the year goes to even the series for the Mets. Kris Medlen (11-12 3.58) goes for Atlanta. https://www.facebook.com/MetsForum
