September 3rd - Braves 3, Mets 1
Tuesday night in Atlanta, Carlos Torres and Kris Medlen hooked up in a terrific pitching duel, but a pair of Brave homers in the bottom of the 7th spelled the difference in a 3-1 Braves win. Torres threw zeros until the 7th. In the 6th the Mets got to Medlen for a 1-0 lead. Eric Young Jr. tripled and was driven home on an rbi double by Daniel Murphy. In the 7th Torres tired….he yielding a game tying homer to Evan Gattis (#16) and then after a walk, Andrelton Simmons connected for a 2 run homer (#13) and the Braves bullpen took it from there. Torres went 7 he allowed 7 hits 3 runs (all earned) he walked 1 and struck out 6. Medlen allowed 1 run in 7 striking out 9 to get the win. Craig Kimbrel pitched the 9th for this 34th save in a row and his 44th on the year. The Mets offense was led by Young who managed 2 hits and a stolen base in the loss. Torres takes the loss he’s now 3-3, Medlen improves to 12-12. The Mets now fall to 34-37 on the road and 62-75 overall. Wednesday is a matinee finale to the series. Dillon Gee (10-9 3.63) looks to capture the get-a-way game for the Mets. Rookie Kameron Loe (1-2 8.15) goes for the Braves. https://www.facebook.com/MetsForum
