Beisbols.org - CF - Brandon Nimmo

After tearing up High-A, AA has not been kind to Brandon Nimmo. On the year, Nimmo has an OPS of .773 in 204 plate appearances in AA, which is slightly disappointing for a bat first outfielder. Over his last 84 plate appearances, Nimmo has started to adjust, posting an OPS of .876. The primary culprit behind his poor AA year is his batting average, which sits at .241. Nimmo’s best tool is arguably his hit tool, so this snag is somewhat concerning, but with the adjustment he has shown and the Mets AAA team being in the Pacific Coast League, I can envision a pathway for Nimmo to be successful fairly quickly.

Meh, im not concerned. ......maybe I'm wrong, but I believe he's been hitting more homers at aa level then he was doing at pretty much all levels combined....
...maybe it's one of those things where coaches are having him tinker with stuff to produce more power.....all is well.

I'm a lot more optimistic on Nimmo than at this time next year. If a guy struggles for a month at a new level, but pulls out of it strong, I see nothing upsetting about that. The fact that Dilson took it up a notch when he got to AA, on the other hand, is truly exciting.
