Saturday night at Chavez Ravine, Jacob deGrom returned from
the DL but was victimized by the long ball the Dodgers beat the Mets 7-4. deGrom’s mound opponent was Zach Greinke and the Mets had his number early,
taking a 3-0 lead in the 4th on a three run homer by Juan Lagares
(3). The Dodgers answered back with and RBI single by Adrian Gonzalez and a
sac-fly Erisbel Arruebarrena. In the 5th the Dodgers took a 5-3 lead
on a three run homer by Gonzalez his 18th on the year. Lucas Duda hit a solo homer in the top of the
6th and it was 5-4. For Duda homer #24 and RBI 71 to lead the Mets. The Dodgers
scored their final two runs in the 7th on an infield single by Scott
Van Slyke and a sac-fly by Gonzalez to cap the scoring. Gonzalez had a huge day
going 2 for 3 with the homer and 5 RBI, deGrom takes the loss going 6 innings
allowing 5 hits 5 runs (all earned) walking 2 and striking out 7. He takes the
loss falling to 6-6. Greinke allow 4
runs (3 earned) on 9 hits through 7 to earn his 13th win. Kenley Jansen notched his 37th
save. The Mets had 12 hits on the night
getting 2 hits apiece from Daniel Murphy, Duda, Lagares and deGrom. With the
loss the Mets have dropped the first two games of this three game set to the
Dodgers. They stand at 60-70 on the year and 30-38 on the road. Sunday afternoon the Mets try to salvage the
final game of the set, Bartolo Colon (11-10
3.85) goes for the Mets, Kevin Correia (7-13 4.87) goes for LA.
