August 24th 2014 -- Mets 11, Dodgers 3

Sunday afternoon in Los Angeles, Lucas Duda went 3 for 5 with his 25th and 26th homers and 5 RBI, the Mets claim the final game of their three game set with the Dodgers 11-3.  Making his first start back from a bereavement leave, the Dodgers scored a run off Bartolo Colon in the bottom of the 1st on a RBI single by Matt Kemp.  The Mets took the lead for good in the top of the second on a solo homer by Travis d’Arnaud, his 12th on the year, and an RBI triple by Eric Young Jr.  In the 3rd the Mets took a commanding 7-1 lead scoring 5 times highlighted by a 3 run bomb by Duda and a two run homer by Ruben Tejada his 3rd on the year.  In the 6th Adrian Gonzalez notched his 6th RBI in 2 games to make it 7-2. In the 7th the Mets scored 3 more times on RBI singles by Daniel Murphy and Duda and a sac-fly from Juan Lagares.  The Dodgers scored their final run in the 8th inning off Buddy Carlyle with an RBI triple by Dee Gordon.  Duda launched his 2nd homer of the day in the top of the 9th off Jamey Wright. Colon earned his 12th win improving to 12-10 going 6 allowing just 5 hits 2 runs (both earned) walking 2 and striking out 5. Correia takes the loss.  In the bottom of the 6th, Kemp grounded into a Triple play 5-4-3-2 with Yasiel Puig being tagged out at home. With the win the Mets improve to 61-70 and 31-38 on the year on the road.  The Mets are off on Monday. Tuesday they are back home in Flushing to start a 6 game home stand. First up the first of three against the Braves on Tuesday, Dillon Gee (4-6  3.84) goes for the Mets. Alex Wood (9-9  3.05) goes for Atlanta.
