5/25/15

Mets Minor League Games - 5-24-15

Met-like lack of offense leads to 3 losses in 4 games.
Minor League Player of The Night - Catcher Colton Plaia, with his 2nd straight 4 RBI night.

Honorable Mention - Robert Gsellman mighty fine once again

AAA - Oklahoma City (29-13)  2  -  Las Vegas (27-17) 0

    RHSP Darin Gorski -  5.0-IP, 7-H, 2-R, 2-K, 3-BB, 5.79

    RHRP (Okla City) David Aardsma - 1.0-IP, 1-H, 0-R, 1-K, 1-BB, 14-save, 2.70

    LF (Okla City) Brian Burgamy - 1-5. 1-RBI, .261

The long run of hot bats for Vegas has turned to winter, as the team's offense has become...Met-like.

AA - Akron (19-24) 4 - Binghamton (24-19) 2

    RHSP Seth Lugo -  6.0-IP, 7-H, 4-R, 5-K, 2-BB, 2.56

    RHRP Bobby Parnell - 1.0-IP, 1-H, 0-R, 1-K, 1-BB, 0.00

    2B Josh Rodriguez - 1-3, 1-R, 1-HR (8), 1-RBI, .299

Lugo had one bad inning, allowing 3 runs.  With Met-like offense, that was one bad inning too many. 29 year old Josh Rodriguez continues to be Binghamton's most potent hitter. Mazzilli's 50 game suspension will be over in a week.

A+ - St. Lucie (21-23) 7 - Dunedin (19-25) 4

    RHSP Robert Gsellman -  7.0-IP, 8-H, 3-R, 3-K, 0-BB,

    RHCL Akeel Morris - 1.0-IP, 1-H, 0-R, 0-K, 1-BB, 7-save, 1.64

    C Colton Plaia -  3-5, double, 4-RBI, .302

Gsellman brilliant again, allowing 3 in the 7th and nothing before it.  Plaia has exploded with back-to-back four RBI games.  Nice indeed from a catcher.

Akeel allowing 2 runners in 1 inning borders on the impossible, but still recorded the save with a scoreless 9th.

Dom Smith's steady hitting surge has raised him 90 points to .233 in the past few weeks.  Nice indeed.

A - Savannah - (19-24) 1 - Rome (19-24) 5

    RHSP Scarlyn Reyes - - 7 IP, 8 H, 3 R, 3 BB, 2 K, 3.62

Vicente Lupo breaks out of a frigid slump with his 5th and 6th doubles of the year, raining his average to .172.

Otherwise, a quiet bat nite for the Gnats, who displayed Met-like offoffense.

GOAT: THREE TEAMS WITH MET-LIKE OFFENSE.

.333 for Dominic Smith in his last 15 games, with 13 RBIs. Turning around nicely

21 year old Robert Gsellman is 6-0, 1.76 after 8 starts for St Lucie. Pretty terrific.
