St. Lucie 9 - Bradenton 2

Matt Oberste had a grand night in leading the St. Lucie Mets to a 9-2 win over the Bradenton Marauders at McKechnie Field on Thursday.

Oberste went 3 for 5, blasted a grand slam and collected six RBIs which is a season high for a Met.

He put the Mets up 1-0 in the first inning on a single that plated Champ Stuart. In the fifth inning his infield single plated another run to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.

Reese McGuire tied the game for the Marauders with a two-run single in the bottom of the fifth, but the Mets wasted no time retaking the lead with a pair of runs in the sixth. Jhoan Urena knocked in Maikis De La Cruz with a single and Colton Plaia delivered an RBI sac fly.

With the game still close at 5-2 in the ninth, Oberste unloaded on a first pitch breaking ball from Ryan Hafner with the bases loaded. The towering fly ball landed just over the left field wall for the grand slam to put the Mets up 9-2.

It was the second grand slam of the season for the Mets. The first came from Michael Conforto at Dodgertown on April 15.

Marcos Molina earned his first win of the season. He gave up two runs and a season-high eight hits but all were singles. He struck out six and walked just one.

Kyle Regnault pitched a perfect seventh and eighth. Mike Hepple induced a 6-4-3 double play to end the ninth.

Jeff McNeil went 2 for 4 and extended his hitting streak to nine games with a single in the seventh. His base hit in the ninth extended his multi hit-game streak to six in a row. He now has nine multi hit games in his last 11.

Eight of the nine Mets in the lineup collected hits and the team finished with 13, a season high for a road game.
