2 wins and a loss from the 3 active full season squads, and DSL team 1 also rocked it with 15 runs. That's what I call development. DSL 2 also won.
Minor League Player of The Night - Michael Gibbons - brilliant debut.
Honorable Mention - Brandon Allen and Jayce Boyd
AAA - Las Vegas - (36-29) 6 - St Lake (27-38) 4
LHSP Darin Gorski - 6 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 0 BB, 6 K, HR, 5.20
Vegas led 2-0 through 5 behind strong Gorski pitching. He coughed up 3 in the 6th, and Vegas quickly matched that with 3 in the bottom half and coasted to the win, Gorski's 4th versus 5 losses this season.
Jayce Boyd had the night, a 2 run double, in the 6th. It was only his 2nd and 3rd RBIs in 43 AAA at bats so far, but timely.
Brandon Allen (.280) drove in 3 on the night and had 3 hits, including 2 doubles. Tovar, Castellanos (.278), and Conrad had 2 hits apiece.
Vegas is rolling again. It has won 5 straight, and is 4.5 games up in first place in its division.
Monell (.371) and Taijeron (.301) remain in the 300 club.
No Recker tonight.
AA - Binghamton - no game scheduled
A+ - St. Lucie - (33-31) 3 - Clearwater (32-32) 2, 13 innings.
RHSP Michael Gibbons - 7.0-IP, 2-H, 0-R, 4-K, 0-BB, 0.00
Welcome to the pros, Michael Gibbons, showing them how it is done. Awesome spot start. The guy he replaced on the roster, Akeel Morris, would have been impressed. Bullpen cost Gibbons a win by allowing runs in the 8th and 9th.
To win the danged thing, Amed Rosario singled to drive in Stephan Sabol in the 13th after Sabol had doubled. The 2 had 4 of St Lucie's 9 hits.
Josh Smoker blew the save in the 9th, but he, Mike Hepple (W), and Kyle Regnault (S) hung up zeros in the 10th thru 13th for the win. Clearwater only managed 6 hits.
Not a night for slugging 1st rounders: Nimmo 0-5, Smith 0-6.
A - Hickory (41-22) 4 - Savannah (34-30) 1
RHSP Casey Meisner - 6.2-IP, 5-H, 4-R, 5-K, 1-BB, 2.15
3B Eudor Garcia - 2-4, 1-R, double, .305
Meisner impressive again - except for the two 2- run shots he allowed, one to the legendary Rock Shoulders (honestly, folks). Savannah bats chilled tonight, Eudor was the offense.
They were no match for 19 year old Luis Ortiz, a 2014 1st rounder who is now 4-1, 1.72.
Rookie - DSL Mets - (7-7) 15 - DSL Rojos (3-11) 8
RHSP Jesus Lugo - 4.0-IP, 4-H, 3-R, 3-K, 0-BB, 3.60
C Juan Uriarte - 3-5, 3-R, double, 1-RBI, .327
LF Claudio Geraldo - 0-3, 3-RBI, .116
Rookie - DSL 2 - Mets (9-5) 6 - Atlana (3-11) 4
19 year old Ronald Guedez is in his 3rd DSL season. 3rd time is the charm...he is 2-0, 0.64. 19 year old Jose Geraldo struck out 4 in 1.2 scoreless innings.
8 steals for the Met squad tonight. Team must be commuting by Greyhound.
18 year old SS Angel Manzanarez is off to a terrific start at .386 in 11 games, with a .471 on base % and 4 swipes. 19 year old Rigoberto Terrazas is .378/.440/.489 so far.
