I am shocked - Mark was SPOT ON on this one

Hope nothing serious - and so much for the "there's nothing wrong with him" line from the organization

Im really trying hard to just enjoy watching my favorite baseball team since childhood and ignore whats going on with these injuries and how they are reportedly being handled.
How many times do we end up with public statements by organization, followed by a 'minor' issue leading to months off, surgery and rehab?
Especially for the younger players who have not had their big payday yet. Is it just me or is it the young (cheap) players fighting through injuries while the higher paid veterans are getting rest followed by shorter DL stints in this organization when they self report stuff to medical staff?

There was something wrong here from the get go... both physically and mentally.

Where does this leave the point of view that Collins needed to go kick the kid into gear with his visit recently?

Bob -

Collins stopped by Lucy for a number of reasons... INCLUDING to check on the status of Montero. Reporters turned it into a sort of exclusive Montero thing... I was told that there were people in the organization VERY concerned if Montero had his head on straight and TC probably went there as much for that issue as checking on his velocity/mechanics.

Either way, this story is over for 2016.

Anyway I wish the young man well.......
Wasn't he originally an 'older' international signing who was then rushed through the system. .... seemingly to take his place in the permanent Mets rotation for years to come.......then Harvey deGrom wheeler Thor and matz ALL showed ability to meet and exceed their own expectations. .....
Now Montero. ....................

I'm alarmed at the public beating that Montero is receiving...my default is that a guy who says he's hurt is hurt, especially when it involves his main "part".

With all due respect to Mack... I just dismiss the "guys in the organization"..."guys close to the organization"....etc...... and I'm alarmed that Collins blew his mouth out by saying Montero is healthy.

Guys....we were all kids once...playing "BASES LOADE...2 OUT...Game 7...Bottom of the Ninth......"..... dreaming of our greatness and heroics as a World Champion and Star. You need toi go a long way to convince me that a 24 year old kid is not just chomping at the bit to hop onto the Pennant Race train, and make his mark.

are you saying I'm making all this up?

I watched the SNY interview with Collins before he went to StLucie. His tone and demeanor definitely appeared to be that he felt he needed to kick Montero into gear.

Mack...I think the "people close to the team" are full of crap. They're always available to bash a guy who's heading out of town, or Rip a young player publicly. ...it's never a "star" established player. Oh, excuse me...I forgot...they've buried Dylan Gee...and what a classless move, giving away his number in-season!

I'll be impressed when they take on big, failing players. Until then, they are just bowing air into their own balloons.

No..I don't you are making anything up. I'm sure that plenty of "close to the team" guys want to hear their own self important bloviating and bashing of players. I don;t think it serves any purpose...unless you're taking on a star who's a problem. They do have those from time to time!

oh...and why would I think you're inventing "comments"---- this is the track record of the organization. I have a problem with THEIR comments, NOT Yours!

Professional sports and baseball in particular is a crazy business.
Check out these Marlins down here with me in Florida.
Marcell Ozuna was a budding star. ....
All of a sudden the Marlins completely tank this hear instead of their projected possible trip to playoffs.........all of a sudden Ozuna hits a 1-30 type skid and is sent down to minors......then, right after his 'service time' hits point in which he now loses a full year of arbitration status or whatever, he miraculously shows back up on the 25man.....now under team control for an extra year.

On the flip side of the coin, Marcos Molina went 79 pitches last night when we were thinking he may have had TJS. Hopefully no surgery for Rafael and he comes back healthy next year.
