Wednesday night in Flushing meadow, Jacob deGrom dealt 7
scoreless innings the Mets won their third straight against the Rockies with a 3-0
win. Harvey last night and deGrom tonight did their best Seaver, Koosman
impression and the Rockies were shut down again. deGrom went 7 allowed just 2
hits walked 4 and struck out 10 for this 11th win. The Mets scored their first two runs in the bottom
of the 4th inning off Jorge De La Rosa. Juan Lagares singled. With 2 outs, he was on 2nd when
Juan Uribe doubled to deep center to make it 1-0. Michael Cuddyer followed with
an RBI single to make it 2-0. De La Rosa went 6 allowed 4 hits 2 runs walked 2
and struck out 7 and falls to 7-5. deGrom is now 11-6 with a 2.03 ERA. Tyler Clippard pitched the 8th. In
the top of the 9th Yoenis Cespedes hit a solo homer, his 1st
as a Mets his 19th on the year to make it 3-0. Jeurys Familia
pitched the 9th for this 32nd save. Once again the Mets
maximize their hits with just 6 on the night.
Uribe led the way with 2 hits.
With the win the Mets are now ten games over .500 at 62-52. They are 41-18
at Citi Field. They are now 3 games head
of the Nationals in 1st place in the NL East. If the Nats lose to
Clayton Kershaw in Los Angeles the Mets will find themselves 3 ½ ahead. Thursday afternoon at 12:10pm the Mets look
to sweep the Rockies in the final game of this 4 game set. Noah Syndergaard (6-6
3.01) goes for the Mets, Eddie Butler (3-9 5.50) goes for Colorado.
