Reese Kaplan -- Mets Cut a Baker's Dozen

No huge surprises here, though a few folks who looked like they might have a shot are gone:

Travis Taijeron -- not on the 40 man roster, but being a right handed power hitting outfielder you'd think they'd keep him around awhile longer in case they did find a taker for Alejandro De Aza

Josh Smoker -- his command wasn't where it needed to be, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him in Queens later in the year should someone falter in the major league pen

Dilson Herrera -- he had nowhere to play, short of perhaps making the club if they felt Wright had to be disabled and thus would fulfill a bench spot.  He'll play every day in Las Vegas

Gavin Cechhini -- recovering from injury and not yet required to be on the 40-man roster, there was no way he was coming north

Brandon Nimmo -- he's continuing his Reese Havens impression, spending more time in the trainer's room than any three other players combined

Seth Lugo -- thanks for the brilliant effort yesterday.  Don't let the door hit you on the way out of the locker room

Robert Gsellman -- well, you didn't really show why you've had success in the minors, so back you go for more seasoning

Gabriel Ynoa -- same story, different spelling

Dominic Smith -- let's hope the lessons learned about hustle are kept front of mind as you progress through the system

Jeff Walters -- keep on the comeback trail from your Tommy John surgery...the window is closing and it's already a bit late to refer to the now 28 year old as a prospect

Duane Below -- strictly AAA filler at this point.  He's likely down the depth chart behind Smoker and others

Stolmy Pimentel -- throwing hard alone is not enough to make it to the next level.  Control and movement need to be developed

Marc Krauss -- the big lefty swinging 1B/OF is kind of an all-or-nothing guy who hits with some power and a ton of Ks

thoughts on the Tejada waivers today?

I'm not sure what the waivers mean. In order to save the max on his contract he'd have to be off the roster by today (or maybe tomorrow), and he hasn't been DFA'd or released. I guess we'll know more very soon.

People forget that he's still only 26, younger than many rookies, and he's had two full seasons of .280+ BA. He'll find a job somewhere, and I'll still root for him as long as he's not playing against us. We could be watching another Justin Turner situation, minus the power.

I blame Reese for his demise. lol

Reese has prevented Tejada from having A HOF Mets career...very cruel.

Would not have been a bit surprised if RT had been included in some trade package, but am surprised at the waiver modus.

Beat out by Campbell, or is something else brewing?

Taijeron keeps looking for putty to fill the hole in his bat. Getting closer and closer to a cup of Joe as a sub in the bigs, here or elsewhere.

Frankly the Tejada waiver decision surprised me, too. I thought he had SOME residual value, but I guess this is a way of gauging interest from other clubs as to a potential deal.

Matt Reynolds has NOT looked like a replacement player thus far, though with the ailing hamstring issue it's possible it's affecting his stance and his swing as well.

Campbell may indeed be the plan with Flores slated to be the backup at SS and 2B.

Reynolds tore it up last spring. Timing is everything.
