Rowen, 28, began last season with Triple-A Buffalo in the Blue Jays organization. In 37 games, he was 0-4 with a 2.47 ERA and one save through 47.1 innings. He was claimed off waivers by the Brewers in early August. He made four appearances for Milwaukee, during which he allowed five earned runs in just three innings.
Rowen was originally drafted by the Rangers in the 22nd round of the 2010 draft. He made his major league debut in 2014 with Texas.

What I like about him (on paper) is that he's a submarine pitcher which is a very different look that what we offer up for the overhand and 3/4 slot pitchers in the pen already. Many who have used this approach like Joe Smith have been highly effective during their careers.
