Today's Warm Thoughts By Mack

1. The thing I'm trying to figure is, if the Mets field a team without most of their key players, against another team that takes the field without many of their key players, what exactly are both these teams trying to accomplish at this point in spring training?

2. I mean, if everyone is only trying to see what rookies and utility players might play out of their ass to stick on their respective team, why not take all the legitimate stars from both teams scheduled, put them in the same dugout, and make the scrubs play again a team comprising of these guys. Now, you will impress me if you get two hits.

4. It was nice to see SP Dillon Gee pitch two great innings, but there is no chance he's going to make the lineup, so why not ship him back to the B-Mets squad so he can get his turn in their upcoming spring schedule?

5. Also, great three hits from Cory Sullivan... his first name is Cory, right... but what's the chance of this guy making it?

6. What I was impressed with was 2B Anderson Hernandez hitting .500 so far this spring... err... oh, he's not on our team anymore... never mind.

7. Which leaves us tho the only important race in this game... who makes the pen.

Today's winner was LHP Heriberto Ruelas, who was the only relief pitcher that didn't give up an earned run, and his combined spring ERA was only lowered to 6.00.

So like, I said, just what are we accomplishing during these three weeks, other than watching our stars on the television monitors wearing strange uniforms?
