B-Met Game Notes

LAST GAME:
Despite leading 3-2 after five innings, Bowie
rallied for four runs in the sixth against starter Jenrry Mejia to
down the B-Mets 7-3. It was Binghamton’s season-worst seventh
straight loss. Dave Krynzel’s three-run homer in the sixth
off Mejia proved to be the difference as it vaulted the Baysox
to a 5-3 lead. Mejia went 5.2 innings giving up six runs, five
earned, on six hits with seven strikeouts. Through five innings,
he was terrific having allowed just one earned run on three
hits, but it unraveled in the sixth thanks to Krynzel’s homer
and a sacrifice fly from Guillermo Rodriguez. Binghamton took
an early 1-0 lead thanks to a sacrifice fly from Jose Coronado
in the second frame. Then after the Baysox struck for two in
the third helped by an error from Mejia, the B-Mets came back
with two of their own. Emmanuel Garcia and Josh Thole hit
back-to-back triples to tie the score and Ike Davis, in his AA
debut, singled home Thole to give Binghamton their last lead
of the game at 3-2. Davis was a perfect 2-2 with two walks
and an RBI in his first game with the B-Mets. Bowie starter
Tim Bascom benefited from the four-run sixth as he was
named the winner for tossing five innings of three-run ball.

STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP:
Following consecutive seveninning
starts in the Florida State League, Dylan Owen returns
to the B-Mets rotation. Owen’s last start came at Daytona and
he allowed just an unearned run on five hits in a seveninnings
performance for his first win of 2009 at any level. With
St. Lucie (High-A), Owen notched a save and went 1-1 while
carrying a 1.50 ERA in 18 innings. He opened the year in the
B-Mets rotation and struggled mightily with a 6.97 ERA in 50.1
innings tallying an 0-5 mark in 10 starts. He last pitched for
Binghamton May 30 at New Britain where he gave up six runs
on a season-high 10 hits in 5 innings to take the loss. He tied
for the Florida State League-lead with 12 wins last season
with St. Lucie. Owen was the Mets’ 20th-round pick in 2007
out of Francis Marion University (SC).

LHP Bobby Livingston will get the call for Bowie tonight. His
last start came June 19 against New Britain in which he took
the loss. He threw six innings allowing four runs, two earned,
on nine hits and struck out five. For the year, Livingston is 5-2
with a 3.97 ERA in 56.2 innings. He has allowed 70 hits so far
this year, equating to a .304 average for opposing hitters.
Livingston was signed as a minor-league free agent by the
Orioles January 15, 2009 after spending 2008 in the Red
organization with Louisville (AAA) primarily where he went 4-4
with a 4.98 ERA in 9 starts spanning 56 innings. He has compiled
61.1 innings of Major League experience with Seattle
and Cincinnati. He was originally drafted by the Mariners in
the fourth round of the 2001 draft out of Trinity Christian High
School in Lubbock, TX.
