FORMER B-METS SLUGGER IN BOOTH
FOR TV GAME JUNE 19th

Matt Raleigh, the Binghamton Mets single season home run record holder, will join Roger Neel to call the opening game of the Subway Series North between the Trenton Thunder and B-Mets on Friday, June 19th from downtown Binghamton’s NYSEG Stadium. Fans can tune into the Time Warner Cable Sports production of the 7:05 pm game live locally on Time Warner Cable channel 23.

Raleigh smashed 37 home runs in a Binghamton uniform during the 1997 season, tops in the Eastern League and the highest total in the history of the B-Mets. The 38-year-old resident of Endwell enjoyed a standout collegiate career for Western Carolina University before turning pro after being drafted in the 14th round by the Montreal Expos in 1992. His professional playing career included stints in the Expos, Orioles, Rockies, Mets and Marlins farm systems.

Injuries forced Raleigh off the playing field and into the coaching ranks with the Marlins. Last year, the Vermont native managed the Carolina Mudcats (Double-A Marlins) to the Southern League Championship finals. In addition, he has owned and operated the Raleigh Baseball Institute for the past eight years working with local amateur players to improve their game.

Area fans know Neel as the program director for the B-Mets radio broadcast station WNBF (1290 AM) and as a lead analyst of Binghamton University Men’s Basketball telecasts on Time Warner Cable Sports. The 57-year-old Endicott resident served as the public address announcer for Binghamton Mets home games in the team’s first 12 seasons.

As part of the Subway Series North weekend, both clubs will wear the uniforms of their Major League parent clubs, the Yankees and Mets. Fans at the game or those that miss the live production can see the replay at 2 pm on Saturday, June 20th on TWC channel 23. After that, the telecast will be available on TWC On Demand channel 577.
