Bisons Notes




TODAY’S GAME:


Today, the Buffalo Bisons face the Syracuse Chiefs at Coca-Cola Field (1:05 p.m.). This two-game series between the Thruway rivals has been shortened to just today’s game thanks to last night’s rain out. That game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on August 20. The Bisons have won five of their last seven games, including two straight over the Chiefs. vs.


THE CHIEFS:


The Herd has won two straight over Syracuse after the Chiefs won the first eight games of the season series. The last time the Chiefs were in Coca-Cola Field they picked up a four-game sweep over the Herd, April 24-27. On Tuesday, the Bisons collected their 100th win over Syracuse since rejoining the IL in 1998 (most wins against any one team).


LEADING THE CHARGE:


INF Mike Lamb was a perfect 4-4 at the plate on Tuesday to lead the Bisons past the Chiefs. Lamb had a triple, two runs scored and two RBI. With this effort, Lamb increased his hit streak to a personal season high of seven games. Lamb has hit (.440, 11-25) with three RBI and five runs since June 8. The stretch has raised his average 35 points to .219.


TRIPLE-A DEBUT:


RHP Tobi Stoner will make his Triple-A debut with his start today. The 24-year old was 2-2 with a 2.86ERA in seven starts with Binghamton (AA). In his last start with the B-Mets, Stoner threw a 7.0-inning complete-game two-hit shutout to beat Trenton on Saturday, June 13.


DONE LIKE DESSENS:


RHP Elmer Dessens has already collected six saves this month. The veteran has converted 11 straight save opportunities. Those 11 saves are tied for 4th most in the International League. On the year, opponents are hitting just .179 off Dessens with five extra-base hits in 117 at-bats.


UNHITTABLE:


RHP Adam Bostick continues his dominance. The reliever has not allowed a hit in his six appearances with the Herd. Bostick has worked 6.2 innings out of the Bisons bullpen, striking out six and allowing just three walks.
