B-Mets:
The Mets sent 10 men to the plate in a six-run first inning against the Rock Cats' Cole DeVries, who exited after 1 1/3 innings having surrendered 10 runs on seven hits. Josh Petersen, Lucas Duda, Jose Coronado and Ruben Tejada all doubled in runs in the first inning.
Binghamton continued to pile it on in the second inning. Caleb Stewart brought in two runs with a bases-loaded double and Tejada, Mike Nickeas and Emmanuel Garcia came up with consecutive run-scoring singles to make it 11-0. Former Mets farmhand Deolis Guerra took over for DeVries after Stewart's double.
B-Mets right-hander Brad Holt (1-3) turned in his best Class AA start, throwing seven scoreless innings. He faced three batters over the minimum despite allowing four hits and a walk. Holt struck out seven.

With the second-best ERA in the league (2.02), Carson has been dazzling all season for the Sand Gnats, and last week was no different. After being denied a victory in his 5 2/3 inning start against Greenville on July 6, Carson took matters into his own hands. The lefty went the distance against Lexington, recording a three-hit, complete-game shutout to finish off his week.

A two-run fifth inning for the Kannapolis Intimidators vaulted them to a, 3-2, win over the Savannah Sand Gnats in the first meeting between the two clubs Monday night.
After a pair of one-out singles, Eduardo Escobar laced a double to drive home Luis Sierra to tie the score at two. Drew Garcia grounded into a fielder’s choice to end the inning, but Sand Gnats third baseman Jefry Marte elected to try and tag Escobar out between second and third. The ensuing rundown allowed Brandon Short to score behind the play and give Kannapolis the lead for good.
The fifth frame spoiled an eight-inning outing from Eric Beaulac (5-5), who takes the loss despite striking out seven and allowing five hits. Charlie Leesman (8-4) notches the win giving up two runs with five strikeouts over his five innings. Dan Remenowsky picked up his 12th save of the season with a perfect ninth inning.
Rehabbing Chicago White Sox outfielder Carlos Quentin put Kannapolis on the board first in the opening inning with an RBI-double down the third base line. Quentin ended the day with a fly-ball out to left making just two at-bats on the evening before exiting for a pinch-hitter in the sixth.
Savannah tied it in the second with Raul Reyes RBI-single. The Santo Domingo product added an RBI-triple in the fourth to put the Gnats ahead, but the lead quickly vanished with the Kannapolis rally in the next half-inning. All told, the Gnats stranded 11 men on the bases and out-hit the Intimidators, 9-6.
The Sand Gnats (9-9, 44-44) will face 2005 Cy Young Award winner Bartolo Colon who will join Quentin tomorrow for a rehab start with Kannapolis. Savannah counters with Kyle Allen (5-5, 4.54 ERA) toeing the slab for the 7 p.m. start.

The Bristol Sox got the better of the K-Mets in Monday night’s rubber game at Hunter Wright Stadium, tallying a 7-4 decision.
Center fielder Ryan Lee set the pace out of the leadoff spot, compiling three hits and scoring twice — including a successful steal of home plate in the fifth inning.
“The guys have been working hard. I just don’t feel like the stars are aligned for us to win two games in a row,” DiFelice said. “We’re getting what we want to see. Our pitching’s better, our defense is better.”
On this night, the Sox (9-12) had the superior arms. Alonzo Harris swatted a leadoff homer against Bristol starter Joseph Serafin, but the southpaw held the K-Mets scoreless for the remainder of his six-inning outing.
As for Wright, he'll bat sixth, between Philadelphia's Raul Ibanez and Shane Victorino, in the third baseman's fourth All-Star Game appearance and third start. Worn down by a taxing first half in which he started 86 of 87 games, Wright said it's been a relaxing trip so far. He has all three of his brothers - Stephen, Matthew and Daniel - with him in St. Louis. The foursome had dinner Sunday night.
"I'm enjoying it, getting a chance to spend time with some of my buddies here, and my brothers," Wright said. "It's relaxing. I'm just not really thinking too much about baseball right now."

Zephyrs pitcher Willie Collazo has been lights out of late, allowing only one earned run in his last 14 innings. His best start of the week came on July 12, when Collazo limited Omaha to three hits in seven scoreless innings for a no-decision. In his July 7 start versus Iowa, the southpaw allowed only one run on five hits to record the victory for New Orleans
