The Future of Mets Second Basemen:
Half Full:
Ruben Tejada – one of the future “Class of 2011”… Tejada is being converted to a second baseman (who isn’t in this organization?), so we’ll keep an eye on any increase in errors. He’s still very young and the only reason that his next step is Queens is because he’s done with all the levels by the end of this season. Will he become the 2011 Mets second baseman. Did Brian Bannister become the Mets SP5? We’ll see…
Reece Havens – most prospect pundits still have Havens as the top second base prospect in the organization, but I need to see one more season out of him before I place him higher on my list. So far, he hasn’t hit for average, though he is showing potential pop. Also, a little more defense won’t hurt either. His future as a Mets may be similar to guys like Dustin Martin.
Josh Satin – I didn’t spend much time with Josh last year in Savannah (hell, I didn’t spend much time with anyone there…). There’s no rush for Satin, who will settle into various minor league levels for a couple more years. He was tagged early on as a poor defensive infielder which just isn’t true.
Jordany Valdespin – this is the one you have to watch… highest ceiling of any Mets infielder in the system, and maybe the highest ceiling of any player period… the boy can hit, but also can piss off the coaches, so hopefully, we’ll see a new level of maturity this season. Remember his name… he’s a future major leaguer.
Half Empty:
Jonathan Malo – Malo is a great team player that looks to be settling into a AAAA role for the organization. Numbers wise, there simply are too many more talented second basemen in the system to earn Malo a starting position anymore.
Hector Pellot – Similar to Malo, the prospect days of Hector Pellot are over and he simply hasn’t developed in the critical A+/AA levels to warrant a future in Queens. Good guy, fast as hell, decent infielder, but… steak knives.
Jose Coronado – nothing against Coronado, but I will be surprised if he’s still in the sytem come opening day. Like Pellot, didn’t develop into a major leaguer.
Kyle Suire – Suire was busted last year and given a 50-game suspension. Before that, he was a Mets prospect. Now? We’ll see.
Josh Peterson – like Pellot and Coronado, his days of dreaming that he will play some day in Flushing are over, but you’re not going to find a harder working, nice dude than Josh. I hope he remains a fixture in Buffalo for years to come.

Crazy idea: move Josh Thole to 2B. His skills profile best at 2B, and he's not a polished catcher now, so why not try him at 2B, maybe even make him a super-utility guy. He's a great hitter, but his future as a starting catcher seems iffy.
what about alonzo harris?
Alonzo Harris is in the future; I just didn't have him either as being "Half-full" or "half-empty".
For reasons I never have been able to confrim, the Mets are moving very slowly with Harris.
Regarding Thole at 2B, I can tell you that he was a decent defensive first baseman.
