The Future of Mets Shortstops

Half Full:

Wilmer Floreseverybody on the Mets are still excitied about this kid… me too… he definitely looks like he has what it takes to make it big time. Watch for the Mets to move him to Lucy this spring and take his time with him. There’s no rush since I’m sure Jose Reyes is going nowhere soon. Look for Flores to graduate to Queens in 2013.

Gered Mochizukia nice 2009 (.270/.351/.358/.709) from the former 49th rouner in the 2003… yes, the 2003 MLB draft by the Kansas City Royals. The Mets scooped him up from the Frontier League last seasn and he will play 2010 as a 24 year old.

Half Empty:

Robbie ShieldsShields was the Mets 3rd round pick last year and went down early with injuries. He eventually went under the knife for TJS and it’s your guess when, or if, he’s be back soon, or at all.

Luis NievesNieves has played for 5 different Mets teams over the past two seasons and his lifetime BA is .192. BA gives him a batting rating of 9. Every minor league teams needs a utility infielder and Nieves has played all three field positions. He may stick in 2010 as a backup, but nothing more.

Jacob Eigstilike Nieve, Jake is a backup infielder, and has played six positions as a minor league Met, including one pitching stint. Eigsti is in the top ten all-time Mets minor leaguers in frequent flyer miles, playing for 4 teams in 2009. Lifetime BA: .239. He’ll stick somewhere.

Miquel Tejadaearly on, there were comparisons to the the ballplayer that plays the game with the same name… not anymore… Batted .141 for the GCL Mets. Meh.
