Savannah Thoughts

The last full season team just may have the most exciting 25-man.

The rotation will feature three of the top Mets prospects, Akeel Morris, Domingo Tapia, and Juan Urbina. Joining them will be Alex Panteliodis, Randy Fontanez and Erik Goeddel. Goeddel and Johnny Pants will probably piggyback in April.

The pen should be T.J. Chism, Todd Weldon, Steve Winnick, Jeremy Gould, Chason Bradford, Darwin Frias, and Mike Herbert.

The infield will be 1B Cole Frenzel, 2B Danny Muno, SS J.C. Gamboa, 3B Aderlin Rodriguez, with Brian Harrison and Ismael Tijerna backing them up. I really wanted Phillip Evans to play here, but how do you sit down Gamboa?

The outfield… Travis Taijerson, Julio Concepcion, Charlie Thurber, and… wait for it… Brandon Nimmo.

Another yeat st Savannah for Aderlin? I was hoping they moved him to 1B up at St. Lucie to see what he can do power wise away from Grayson Historic (aka Yosemite) Park.

are these facts that these people will be on the savannah squad? or just predictions?

No love for Marcos Camerena, Rafael Monthero or Brett Mitchell?

Marcos Camerena (21) career line of 13-9 2.53 ERA 1.084 WHIP. He was pretty good, not great last year in Brooklyn.

Brett Mitchell, (23) who went 5-1 2.95 ERA in Kingsport and he's already 23, so another year in SS would basically be a waste IMO.

Rafael Montero (21) was dominant at pretty much every SS level last year.

I think the point is though that these are some good problems to have finally and we have some guys that are pushing themselves into the conversation to be promoted.

Personally be a NJ/NY guy, I was hoping for Morris, Fulmer, Urbina, Matz, Baldonado + any top draft picks that we could sign by July/August in Brooklyn since I try to hit some Cyclone games, but if they can get some time early in Savannah, that's even better. I know management was concerned about innings limits last year with the young guys, so we'll see how it plays out.

Good job Mack!

Anonymous: These are just Mack predictions at this point. He did a 2011 post season one a few months back and this is just basically what his thoughts are on where players might land. Towards the end of the month, the Mets will announce officially where certain players will be assigned.

They are always just predictions at this time of the year

Closer (my agent)

I ran out of roster spots for the guys you mentioned.

The system is really clogged up with starters.

The adage, "You can never have too much starting" should come with a disclaimer asterisk stating *will cause organizational headaches when looking at and determining depth charts. Wish with your own risk.

what exactly does "piggyback in april" mean? sorry I'm trying to learn baseball more.

Mack Ade said...

"Piggybacked" comes early in a season where two starting pitchers are used in one game.

One throws 5 innings, the other throws 4 innings. Both are also under a strict pitch count.

Stephen:

There really is a big mess here.

I've predicted the starters for the four full season teams, with AAA and A having 6 starters and AA and A+ having 5.

I still have 15 other starters in camp that have no team to go to.
