Cecchini Named League Player of the Month

MiLB
Binghamton Mets shortstop Gavin Cecchini was recognized on Thursday as the Eastern League Player of the Month for July. In 29 games, Cecchini hit a league-best .387 with 11 extra-base hits and 18 RBI. The Louisiana native registered a dozen multiple-hit games, including a quartet of four-hit performances and a career-high five-hit effort on July 30 against Richmond.
Cecchini, 22, racked up 48 hits in the month, surpassing his previous career-high hit total in a month by 13. The 2012 first-round pick out of Alfred M. Barbe HS (LA) compiled a .532 slugging percentage and a .453 on-base percentage.
The 2015 Eastern League Mid-Season All-Star sits second in the Eastern League with a .312 batting average, tied for fifth with 56 runs score and second in total bases with 173.
Cecchini is the first B-Met to win Player of the Month honors since Cesar Puello took the title in June 2013.

Just an observation, but what's up with Wally not playing top prospects, if I remember correctly last year he wasn't playing Puello everyday when we were all on the Puello bandwagon, and another day off for Nimmo when he had one just a couple of days ago, and Nimmo has been really heating up the past couple of days. Just another thing about Backman that just confuses the hell out of me with why the general consensus with Mets fan is he should be the manager for the big club right now.
