IIA - Injured In Action - And It Never Changes!!!

If you're a long-time Mets fan, you KNOW what these names have in common:

CRAIG SWAN

TIM LEARY

RYAN CHURCH

JASON BAY

DAVID WRIGHT

AND NOW...

JOINING THEM IN AN AMBULANCE AND/OR ER ROOM NEAR YOU, THE ONE, THE ONLY...

NOAH "THOR" SYNDERGAARD!!!!!

(Super-heroes, apparently, are NOT untouchable and CAN get hurt!!!)

What's that you say? You're not sure what those names have in common?

Simply put, each of those players were hurt under the Mets' watch, and each of them were allowed to play, with different ailments, under different circumstances, under different regimes, but all under one similar grouping!!! It's endemic to the system, and it's amazing that in 2017 these injuries are still happening and the team doesn't put their foot down!!!!!

Granted, you cannot ORDER a player to undergo and MRI- but what you CAN do is threaten to put him on the 10-day DL for his own good unless or until he does so!

David Wright had a BROKEN FREAKIN' BACK for THREE MONTHS  before he was finally put on the DL!!!

Ryan Church was allowed to fly WHILE SUFFERING FROM A CONCUSSION!!!!

Don't get me STARTED about CRAIG SWAN!!

Injuries happen- they are a normal part of the game, unfortunately. Somehow, though, a team that has had the same Trainer since 2004 and uses the same Hospital that the (injury-prone) NFL Giants use (NY Hospital for Special Surgery) and remains secretive about injuries (both their existence as well as their severity) refuses to protect their hundreds of million dollar investments- THE PLAYERS- with a better system, with better treatment, with a semblance of honesty and integrity.

GM Sandy Alderson has done a great job assembling this team and the many intriguing young prospects, but once they get up to the majors, ALL BETS ARE OFF!!!!!

Sandy, PLEASE do what Omar never did- FINALLY & DEFINITIVELY REVAMP THE ENTIRE METS MEDICAL PROCESS FROM TOP TO BOTTOM!!! It's probably already too late for this season- but GET IT DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Mets Medical Office- where many a Mets career has hit a brick wall with the force of a Jason Bay.

I sense a feeling of frustration, bubbie... LOL

Here is the rub... we as fans and writers need to take a step back from the ledge.

The only problem is that the ledge is not very thick and we then fall off the back of it.

I told you on the phone today. I did this job much better when I approached it as a writer, not a fan. Adam Rubin told me that the day I was with him in spring training in 2007. He was right then and he is right now.
