Andes Gimenez continues to rake in the Arizona Fall League

Yesterday, in an afternoon game in Arizona, Andres Gimenez went 1 for 4 driving in two runs with an opposite field hit which you can see here.  Andres is now hitting .333 in 8 games with 1 HR and 13 RBIs.

This is great news for the Mets.  Andres came to Binghamton with much fanfare only to hit .250 with 9 home runs and 37 RBIs in 117 games.

Catcher Sanchez also played yesterday going 1 for 4.  In 5 games so far, Ali is hitting .214 with 2 RBIs.

The other big story in Arizona this fall has been lefty David Peterson.
Last Saturday, 9/28, David followed up his earlier 3 innings no run performance with 3.1 scoreless innings, with 4 Ks, 4 Hits and 3 walks.

In that same game, only Mets pitchers threw to combine for the 2-0 shutout.  Jordan Humphreys came in after Peterson with 3.2 innings to earn the win.  Ryley Gilliam and Blake Taylor then each pitched a scoreless inning to finish the game.

Overall, Jordan Humphreys is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA in 2 games, 6.2 innings, 4 hits, 4 Ks, 1 BB.

Ryley Gilliam, 0-0, 3 games, 4.1 scoreless innings, 3 Ks.

In three games Lefty Blake Taylor has pitched 4 innings, 0-1, 4.50 ERA with 3 hits, 6 Ks, and 2 walks.

Other Arizona hitters include Patrick Mazeika, .250 with 4 hits and 2 RBIs in 16 at-bats.

Catcher Juan Uriarte, 0 for 3 with a walk in 2 games.

Luis Carpio, .364 so far leads all Met hitters with a 4 for 11 in 3 games.

We can get excited about Gimenez's RBIs, but his season RBI totals were substandard. I guess when the Fall League ends, we can add them together for a fuller picture - which is what I did with Pete Alonso last year, where in 159 games, including the AFL, he had 42 Hrs and 146 RBIs - and some still felt he wouldn't be here opening day after that...but were proven wrong.

Blake Taylor is my dark horse in the AFL, but the pitchers are looking GOOD so far. My guess is today, it is their turn to pitch, since the AFL seems to group each team's pitchers together.
