This is the next post in a series intended to bring awareness to some of the lesser-known prospects in the Mets' organization This series will post a different prospect each weekday at 11:00am EST for the benefit of our fans.
Dylan Tebrake is a 24/yr old RHRP, drafted by the Mets in the 8th round of the 2022 draft, out of Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.
Biggest game of his college career was on 5/15/20 when he threw 8-IP, 0-R, vs. Seton Hall.
So the Mets draft this multi-year Friday night starter, who won the Big East pitchers of the year for close to his whole career... including his senior year where he went 17-ST, 8-2, 2.17, 93.1-IP, 115-K.
And what do they do?
They turn him into a reliever.
But, it has paid off. He went 0-0 for the combined teams of FCL Mets and St. Lucie in 2022... and 2.08 in 14-G for the Cyclones last season.
But his real talent is mixing his curve, change, and slider with his up to 95mph fastball... with remarkable control... that has resulted in a career K/9% of 13.9.
Where does he play in 2024? Well, he's mature (nice word for old) enough for AAA, but my guess is he returns to AA where he finished last season, pitching in four games.
I really like this guy, but I sure wish they kept him starting.
Mack's Spin -
Tebrake is probably two years away from any chance of traveling north.
Another pitch would help also.

Boy, anything guys can do to improve their pitch repertoire, do it. This camp puts the exclamation point on that.
Looking forward to a big Tebrake season in AD 2024.
Dylan, along with Matt Allen, has been reported today to have been placed on the 60 day injury list.
