All of the top level Mets prospects have been reassigned to the other side of the camp so they can get ready to join in the fun of those prospect games coming up later this month.
This leaves the parent club depleted of sub-players that can be inserted in the late innings of the spring games so the vets get some rest.
Enter the kiddies that never dreamed this early of a locker inside the main clubhouse.
This week, the following players were quietly added and you will see them in upcoming spring games:

Keep one eye on LHRP Kolton Ingram, who was reassigned earlier this week from the Mets squad to AAA-Syracuse. Yes, he bombed out last season for a handful of appearances, but the 5-9. 27-yr old went 11-8, 3.17 in 198.2-IP, over four minor league seasons, producing 245-K and a 1.15-WHIP.

Keep an eye on William Lugo, who I was also happy to see included on the breakout series roster. Lugo actually had 5 or 6 big league AB’s in last year’s ST and hit two absolute bombs (HR’s). He got hurt before the season started (his hand, I think) and missed the first 6 weeks or so, and took the entire first half to get going at all. In 2022, as a 20yo, he showed a good eye and power up through A+. Excited to maybe see him in a game again this spring.

I think we should take a vote on the biggest Mets bust in the last 10-15 years. This kid will be hard to top.
Gus, Juan doesn’t turn 19 until July5. Maybe we will see some fireworks from him this year. After all, he may have entered the pitching lab and come out of it a Cyborg.
The odd thing is, when he has enough time in to need to be added to the 40 man to be protected, he will not be much older than a Pete Alonso was when he made his minor league debut. In his first DSL game, he was 16 yr, 11 months old.
He is of course, making no one forget Juan Soto.
