7th Round Mets Pick - LHP - Darin Gorshi

7th round pick - Darin Gorshi - LHP – Kurtztown U –
(I did not have him in the top 55 LHP’s avaialble for the draft)

In a league that has been dominated in recent years by pitching and the Kutztown Rockies, it was fitting that Kutztown lefthander Darin Gorski led the Rockies to another championship in 2008—their third in a row.

Gorski, the league’s top prospect, went 7-0, 1.33 with a league-high 78 strikeouts during the regular season, then took the mound in pivotal Game 3 of the semi-finals as Kutztown knocked off regular-season champion Lehigh Valley, 6-2, to advance to the league’s winner-take-all, one-game final. The Rockies methodically polished off the Hampton Whalers 8-2 for a three-peat
Historically, the strength of the ACBL has been young pitching and form held in 2008—from Gorski’s dominance to the league’s impact in the draft. Along those lines, the ACBL has also earned a reputation as a steppingstone league for its young pitching prospects.
