Binghamton won the first game of a doubleheader Saturday, 1-0, in eight innings, against Connecticut.
1B Lucas Duda doubled in C Josh Thole for the walk-off. Duda is now hitting .298 and has no intention of losing his job to Nick Evans. In the last 10 games, he has hit only .229; however, this might be the start of something. By the way, Evans is only hitting .203 (0-4 today in game 1).
Well, it didn’t take long for SP Jenry Mejia to make a splash at the AA-level. Mejia pitched 7.0 innings of shutout ball, striking out five and walking three. MiLB.com quickly jumped on the bandwagon and has a feature story on him even before the game ended.
RP Roy Merritt (3.58) got the win.
