Mets Claim LHP Pat Misch, Option to BuffaloBisons’ RHP Fernando Nieve Promoted to New York

The New York Mets today announced that they have selected the contract of Bisons RHP Fernando Nieve. The Mets also announced that they have claimed LHP Pat Misch off waivers from San Francisco and optioned him to Buffalo.

Misch, 27, appeared in four games out of the bullpen for the Giants this season, going 0-0 with a 10.080ERA (3.1IP, 6H, 4R, 4ER, 3BB). He started the year with the Fresno Grizzlies (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League, where he was 3-0 with a 2.00ERA and one save. (27.0IP, 24H, 7R, 6ER, 4BB, 12K). In his final game for Fresno, he made his only start of the season and threw 5.0 scoreless innings to earn the win.

Drafted out of Western Michigan University by San Francisco in the seventh round of the 2003 First-Year Player Draft, Misch made his major league debut with the Giants in 2006. For his career, the 6-2, 196-pound lefty has appeared in 34 games, made 11 starts and compiled a 0-7 career mark and a 5.00ERA (52 earned runs/93.2 innings). Nieve was 3-0 with a 3.70ERA in four starts with the Bisons (24.1IP, 18H, 10R, 10ER, 10BB, 23K).
