B-Mets Game Notes

LAST GAME:

For the ninth time this year, the B-Mets took a
game to extra innings and for the seventh time they won in
extras, this time 11-8 at New Britain. Down 8-6 going into the
ninth, Binghamton rallied for two runs off closer Anthony
Slama, who blew just his third save of the season. With the
base full in the ninth and no out, the B-Mets got an RBI single
from Ruben Tejada and a sacrifice fly from Jose Coronado to
tie the score. With one out, Carlos Gutierrez was summoned
from the bullpen with runners at the corners and one out. On
the first pitch he threw Emmanuel Garcia, he got a double play
grounder back to the mound to end the threat and keep the
score tied. After Connor Robertson had thrown a scoreless
ninth, Binghamton loaded the bases with nobody out and
proceeded to get a two-run single from Josh Petersen through
a drawn in infield to make it 10-8. Then D.J. Wabick, delivered
a sacrifice fly to put the B-Mets ahead 11-8. Robertson
pitched a scoreless tenth to pick up his first win with Binghamton.
Jake Ruckle acquitted himself well as the starter,
going 4.2 innings allowing two unearned runs.

STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP:

fifth start of the year for the B-Mets this afternoon. Holt allowed
three runs in a five-inning start in Game 1 of the twin

Binghamton, he is 0-3 with an 8.40 ERA in 15 innings. Holt is
considered the fourth-best prospect in the Mets’ organization
by Baseball America and is considered the top starting pitching
prospect among right-handers. He opened the season with
St. Lucie (High-A) and went 4-1 with a 3.05 ERA in 41.1 innings
in eight starts. Holt was the Mets’ first-round supplemental
pick in 2008, 33rd overall, out of UNC-Wilmington.

looking to end a three-start losing streak. He lost his third
straight game July 8 against Connecticut when he allowed
three unearned runs in seven innings last time out. For the
season, he is 5-8 with a 2.89 ERA in 16 starts spanning 90.1
innings. His ERA ranks eighth in the Eastern League. DeVries
finished third in the Florida State League in ERA (2.93) with
Fort Myers (High-A) last year. The 24-year old Minnesota native
was signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Twins out
of the University of Minnesota in 2006. .

SEASON-LONG HITTING STREAK FOR DUDA:
