“It feels good for me, but it would have felt even better if we had won that
ballgame.”
“We lost, so I can’t get too excited. If we would’ve won, it would’ve been
more exciting.”
“I just wanted to play hard, but it didn’t matter because we lost.”
“It was great while it was happening. but when they kept scoring runs, it
really wasn’t that enjoyable, to say the least.”
“It’s bittersweet, for sure.”
These are the worst kinds of quotes. They’re from players who have just
enjoyed some of the greatest individual glory they are likely to generate in
their major league careers, yet they can’t smile about it because they came in
service to a loss.
