Hello All,
After a short hiatus, I have returned to writing. It's been a busy few months but I have found some time to get back to the Mets. It's pretty crazy how quick a season can turn in such little time. The Mets were once rolling with the playoffs a serious possibility. Watching this team in person many times over the course of the season, it was only a matter of time before the apparent lack of talent began to show. Heart, grit and balls can only get you so far over a 162 game season.
What have we learned about this team? Captain Kirk strikes out A LOT! It's a shame he can't shorten up and put the ball in play more often. If he is going to be striking out as much as he is, he needs to at least provide more power than he has shown. He's been on the chopping block recently, but I think the key to his development is playing. He needs to play, whether it be here or in Buffalo. I am absolutely sick of seeing Andres Torres play. He has no future with this team. I really don't care if the Mets begin losing because a. if they do lose, its with their home grown players and b. it will give them the chance for a nice pick in next years draft. The Mets need to determine whether or not Captain Kirk can hit lefties. The only way to do that is if he plays.
I'll be the first to admit that my prediction about the Duda and Davis duo was completely off. Davis can be a complete player in professional baseball but he needs to settle down. He's getting a bad reputation amongst the "blues" and he is dead set in his ways. I look for him to have a solid second half of the season, hopefully extinguishing any doubt that he is the first basemen of the future. Duda on the other hand has been frustrating to watch. The man is immensely talented but is lacking the killer instinct needed to be an above average ball player. Sending him down would be a good way to get him back on track and have him get back the confidence he needs to be successful. Lucas is the type to doubt his God-given ability. Its a shame because if he could put it all together he'd be quality, middle of the order hitter.
I'm am not in favor of promoting Matt Harvey. I don't think he has been "dominant" at Triple A. He didn't earn a promotion to the bigs. I'd much rather he develop in the minors, learn to use his change effectively and force his way up to the bigs. Scott Kazmir anybody?

Welcome back, Tony.
At this point in their first full season, I don't think either Duda or Nieuwenhuis are everyday outfielders, now or in the future.
The Mets may have participated in ruining the grown of Kirk but having him sit most of the time in Queens.
Ike should have stayed behind in April and May and been allowed to properly recover from a real shitty virus that can really sap your stength. I can't believe that the Mets bought his line of bull that he was ready.
Medical people are supposed to go by the book on things like this. People DIE from that. Amaking.
