Mets to Recall Bisons C Rob Johnson
Mike Nickeas Optioned to Bisons
June 25, 2012 –The New York Mets today announced that they will recall Bisons CROB JOHNSON before their game against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday, July 26. The club also announced that they have optioned C MIKE NICKEAS to the Bisons.
The Mets/Diamondbacks game on Thursday will also be the major league debut of Bisons All-Star Matt Harvey (9:40 p.m.).
Johnson played 45 games with the Bisons this season and averaged .207 (34-164) with seven doubles, one triple, four home runs and 15RBI. He threw out 24% of would-be base stealers (9CS, 37ATT). Bisons pitchers were 22-23 with a 3.84ERA with Johnson behind the plate.
Nickeas has spent the entire 2012 season with the Mets. In 42 games, the catcher has hit .168 (17-101) with three doubles, one home run and 13 runs driven in. This will be the fourth consecutive season Nickeas has been with the Herd. In 69 total games as a Bison, he has hit .207 (42-202) with 10 doubles, two home runs and 15RBI.
