I May Be Wrong, But… Elvin Ramirez, Negativity, 1-8, Dempster Trade

      1.     “El” returns today for another shot. Frankly, he may not leave for the remainder of the season. We all know the story here…Rule 5 loss to the Nats, returned, spot-on in the minors, spot-off in Queens. Forget the bad outing and just consider what he has done this leave at the combined AAA/AA level: 29-appearances, 3-1, 1.99, 40.2-IP, 43-K, 21-BB. Yeah, the walks are high, but who gives a shit. The Mets are so desperate that Dickey came out of the pen. Go do it, El.

     2.     I noticed fans, even writers, and even me… fall into the trap of sounding negative sometimes, especially during a losing streak like this time. A short reminder… the Mets do not suck. More importantly, Mets ballplayers also do not  suck. These are real human beings that have feelings just like you and I and, more importantly, play this game at a level that you and I have never experienced. Lucas Duda may have trouble playing right field… Wilmer Flores may be slow running the bases… and Jason Bay may have never paid off as a Mets signing, but they, the rest of the team, and the team, in general do not suck. Any questions?

3.     Folks, going 1-8 since the all-star break would have hurt a lot more if there were nine games left in the season and you lost the wild card this way.

4.     The Ryan Dempster to Atlanta trade should shut any of the Mets pennant doors that are still open. There is no way in hell New York can catch either Washington or Atlanta, so let’s move on. I’ll write about this tomorrow in a separate post.
