Last night was a season
killer. The trading floodgates opened and National League teams that wanted to
make the playoffs this year stood up to be counted. The Mets didn’t.
The 2013 season begins
Thursday night when Matt Harvey hits the mound,
but there are more they can do to start the race to the 2014 World Series.
It’s no big secret that
the Mets and the Buffalo Bisons are going to part company at the end of this
season. Yes, the Bisons are trying to make the playoffs, but then what happens?
Does the attendance go from 4,000 to 5,000?
I’m a businessman by
trade and I think August would be a great time to align the players that are
projected to open up the 2013 season with (most probably) Rochester.
Yeah, I know, the
players who currently are on the team deserve the chance to play in the
playoff, right. Tell that to the Savannah guys last year that had to step aside
for a Johan Santana rehab start during game one of the playoffs.
No, this is a business
and the Mets are currently operating at a loss. They need all the competitive
advantage they can drudge up, and getting next spring’s AAA team on the same
field this year would not only be hot, but also get a jump up on these
key player’s growth.
My team:
1B – Alan Dykstra
2B – Reese Havens
SS – Wilfredo Tovar
3B – Wilmer Flores
OF – Cory Vaughn
OF – Matt den Dekker
OF – Cesar Puello
C – Juan Centeno
Utility – Eric Campbell, Josh Satin, Josh Rodriguez, Rob Johnson, Adam
Loewen
Leave the pitching
alone… just change the everyday players and give the playoff run a shot.
Binghamton is not a playoff contender and you can ship out Val Pascuchi, Oswaldo Navarro, Brad Emaus, Corey Wimberly,
Zach Lutz, Lucas May, Jean Luc Blaquiere, Fred Lewis, Raul Reyes, and Matt Tuiasosopo there. You could also offer some of
the players an option to be releases, especially a Buffalo legend like
Pascuchi.
It’s a good idea folks,
because it is void of emotions.
