DOWN UNDER: Mets Minor league Results - 7-23-15

38 runs allowed in 7 games, so not the pitcher's night.

STAR OF THE DAY: .John Mora with his eleventh triple of the year. And my guy Johnny Monell was boppin'.

HONORABLE MENTION: L J Mezzilli with 4 more hits than Conforto and Cecchini.

 SCORES:

Las Vegas (57-42) 9 - Fresno 4

Binghamton  (53-44)  3 -  Trenton 7

St Lucie  (48-48) - twin bill vs. Brevard Cty. RAINED OUT!

Savannah  (49-47) 10 - Hagerstown 9

Brooklyn  (18-13) 3 -  W. Va. 8

Kingsport (14-14) 5 - Pulaski 2

GCL Mets  - suspended after 4 innings.

DSL METS 1 ( 23-23) 6 - Twins 10...seven unearned runs for the Twinkies!

DSL METS 2 (27-19) 6 - Red Sox 4

Las Vegas sent (now 4-1, 6.35) Dillon Gee to the hill and he had an interesting game. He struck out 9 batters in less than six innings but allowed four runs, three of which were earned, over that period.

He may, in a way, be starting to like it there, as the Las Vegas hitters blasted 3 home runs, by Monell, Vaughn, and Allen. Unlike the Mets, his former employer, 51s hit.  A lot.

14 hits for the Vegas hitters. Monell had 3 hits (.365) and Herrera (.337) and Rivera (.312) had two apiece.

Bingo's Johnny Gant (4-5, 4.70) was off his game tonight. He allowed 7 runs in under six innings, making the fine relief outings by Dario Alvarez and Akeel Morris for naught.

The B Mets generated little offense, other than from Lee Mazzilli, who my tablet's voice recognition thought was Lima silly. The silly lima bean ripped 4 hits.  Maybe Mazzilli (.282) is not so silly. The scorching duo, Conforto and Cecchini,qq went kaplooie, with a combined 0-10.

St Lucie's Thursday twin bill was RAINED out.

Savannah ran 9-4, 3.29 Scarlyn Reyes out to start tonight's game in Hagerstown, home of the Haters.  Reyes won but was not sharp. John Mora had 3 hits (single, double, 11th triple) and a walk.

Montgomery's first bad outing of 2014. 5 runs in relief, but 3 of the a5 were allowed to score by Jimmy Duff, who came in with the bags stuffed and 2 outs.  Amazingly, Duff gets a save for recording that single out.

Brooklyn's Catcher, Manuel Hilario, smacked a 3 run shot, but that left the Cyclones 5 runs short in an 8-3 loss.

Kevin Canelon started and was not great, allowing 5 runs in 4 innings, but 3 of the 5 were unearned due to the Cyclones failing to see the error of their ways 3 times last night. Shortstop Al Reyes is hitting .141, with 10 errors in 28 games, due no doubt to mysterious and nefarious cyclonic forces at work.

Kingsport was honored to have Tom McIlraith start tonight's game vs. The Palookas from Pulaski. He returned the honor and 1was fine for the first 5, keeping his ERA below 2.00. Eric Manoah was fine for the last 4 innings.

Dash Winningham with 2 more RBIs (21) for the K Mets.

GCL Mets postponed after 4, trailing 4-3.

DSL METS 1:  the Metsies lost 10-6. At least they made 6 errors to match their 6 runs. To solve the problem, they will play without gloves in their next game. Kenny Hernandez is 10 for his last 33, climbing him to .160.  May he get to the Mendoza Line by his 17th birthday in 2 weeks

DSL METS 2: a 5 run 7th propelled the 7 games over .500 Mets over the 33-13 Red Sox. Wagner Lagrange had 3 more hits (.353). He has 47 hits and just 15 Is in 33 games.

GOAT: Christian Montgomery (and Jimmy Duff)

Mazzilli is finally untrained, .409 in his last 10 games. I think his 50 game absence cost him being ready for a mid-season call up to Queens.

Thank you tablet...Mazzilli is untracked, not untrained.
