DOWN UNDER: Mets Minor league Results - 7-21-15

Another fine nite in the Mets Minor Universe, except on Planet Lucie. Only 2 losses in 8 tilts.

STAR OF THE DAY: Gabe Ynoa in full control once again, and Dario Alvarez and Paul Sewald tossed 2 relief innings of perfection for Gabe, striking out all 6.  And dazzling Matt Bowman, better than Ynoa tonite with a late 2 hit shutout!!.

HONORABLE MENTION: David Thompson, Pat Mazelka, Brook Conrad

 SCORES:

Las Vegas  (56-41) 4 - Fresno 0

Binghamton (52-43) 4  - New Britain 1

St Lucie (48-48) 0 -  Charlotte 12

Savannah  -  DNP

Brooklyn  (18-12) 3 - W. Va. 5

Kingsport (13-13) 5 - Pulaski 2

GCL Mets (15-11) 2 - Nationals 1

DSL METS 1 (23-21) 10 - Red Sox  7

DSL METS 2 (26-18) 5 - Marlins  3

Las Vegas sent Matt Bowman (and his 6-10, 5.53 record) to the mound against a tough Fresno team.

So: of course, Bowman's best start of the year, and probably of his whole career.  SUPERB!!

Brook Conrad led Vegas hitters with 4-4 and a HR, and Wilfredo Tovar (3) and Zach Lutz (2) had 5 of their other 6 hits.

Binghamton's Gave Ynoa came into the game on a major roll of late. 7 innings of 5 hit, one run ball, and the roll continues.  GREAT RELIEF - see Stars of Day above.

Cecchini and Mazzilli 2 hits each; L J aready has 14 doubles sine returning in early June.

St Lucie went forth tonight with Kevin McGowan, who entered play with a 5-8 record.  They were cruel to him, leaving him in to allow 12 earned runs on 14 hits in less than 4 innings.  St Lucie bats were shut down for the 2nd straight night. Debacle.  Jeff McNeil had 2 hits.

Savannah Gnats are off this fine Tuesday.

Brooklyn's David Thompson went deep for the first time, one of his 2 hits, but rehabbing Chris Flexen got roughed up in relief for 4 runs in 3.1 IP & took the loss. Shake it off & move forward,  Chris.

Kingsport's Nabil Crimatt (1-1, 2.63 prior to the game) started for the K Mets.  He and relievers were solid, leading to the victory.

Pat Mazelka continues a phenomenal career start, going 2-4 with his 10th double in 25 games to go along with 4 HRs and 21 RBIs.  Dash Winningham also had a double and single and is hitting a strong .286.  Ivan Wilson struck out 2 more times, and is not progressing.

GCL Mets' Gabriel Llanes toiled for the GCMs today. He tossed 4 nice innings in a close 2-1 win.

11th round, 18 year old lefty Jake Simon threw well again, with 2 scoreless; in 4 relief appearances, totaling 5 IP, he has been very effective: 4 H, 0 BB, 5 K - impressive pro debut in 2015.

Grigorix Estevez threw the final 3 scoreless innings to secure the save and drop his ERA to 6.10.

Ali Sanchez (.371) drove in the first run, Ricardo Cespedes (.263) the second one.

DSL METS 1: the Mets squad rallied for 7 late runs to pull away.

DSL METS 2: two in the 10th provided the margin of victory. Familia improved to 5-3, 1.75 in relief.

GOAT: St Lucie's manager for letting his starter take an incredible beating.

Ivan Wilson has 188 Ks in 399 official at bats in his career. Vicente Lupo 100 Ks in 216 official at bats this year. Champ Stuart 115 Ks in 282 official at bats this year (and down to .177). All are amazingly high in the strikeout department.
