Tom Brennan - NO SOUVENIRS ALLOWED

Tom Brennan - NO SOUVENIRS ALLOWED

I guess Mets management has ordered its Brooklyn and Gulf Coast Mets affiliates to greatly cut down on free souvenirs.

You see, the GCL Mets have hit just 8 homers in 40 games.

The Brooklyn Cyclones have hit just 12 homers in 52 games.

That's just 20 potential souvenirs in 92 games.  A great money saver, so many baseballs not taken home by fans.

At that rate, over 162 games, they would compile 35 homers.

Somewhere, Babe Ruth is turning over in his grave.

But seriously: why do the Mets build teams in such a severely power-deficient manner?

Do they instead focus their players on contact?  Then why are both teams also low-hitting and low-scoring?

Food for thought - but if you want a souvenir, buy one.

Hmm, we just got even less home runs as we gave away 29 home runs by Jay Bruce, and we like to have Wilmer Flores spend lots of time contemplating his navel on the bench and...

I am excited about Yankees-Mets series.

This is a really big deal to Sandy Alderson. He sunk a trade with them; this is how seriously he takes the rivalry.

It may not mean something in the standings, but to a lot of employees of both teams, it means a lot.
